Today I decided to put some of my new cleaning products to use. Not a proper scrub down, but just a quick polish to see exactly how dirty my playfield actually is.. because when you look at it, it doesn’t look all that bad. How wrong I was!
Check out this cloth!
All I did was dab a little bit of gunk on it and rub it over the enterprise (ooh err missus!)! Filthy!
Comparison of my old and new flipper. So just a teeny bit dirty then! The old flipper had a huge crack in the tip. Didn’t seem to affect gameplay, but it doesn’t look good, so I replaced it.
Replacing flippers is a lot harder than it sounds! Below shows the flipper coil under the playfield. The flipper rod is pinched in a U of metal bolted tight. The only problem is that if you over tighten it, there’s no way to bend the U back to shape 🙁 Unfortunatly this is my “before” shot. The U is way too tight, so after I swapped the flippers the new flipper is extreamly loose and moves position each time I flip 🙁 .. time to get a new flipper crank arm!
