Now that I’ve got the power working I can just about play a game and now I’m finding more things missing/broken! .. but it’s ok, because I like fixing stuff!
Todays quandry was why doesn’t the machine do something cool when I hit the ball down the top hole? I was sure that when I hit the ball down the top hole, lots of lights were supposed to flash and magical pixies should pop up, bringing me beer on folded £50 note coasters. .. but alas.. [plonk] (that’s the sound of the ball going down the hole) ..
I looked under the playfield and all around the hole where the ball goes in and I realised that there were no sensors there to detect the ball.. but it did look like one used to be there. So I searched the net trying to find some hi-res pics of the underside of the playfield showing what I wanted to look at, but I couldn’t find anything.. until I stumbled onto a guy selling his STTNG pinball on ebay. .. So I emailed him to say hi 🙂
Alex P was awesome and emailed me back tons of hi-res pics of his playfield and sure enough, I’m missing three optos! Optos create a light beam across the path of the ball. When the ball breaks the link they send a signal to the CPU and then the pixes appear 🙂 .. only I’ve not got any! Waa! Time to fill in another online order 🙂
