Check out the huge black line on my flippers and the yellow post is pretty much black!

I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to replace all the rubbers! I’ve just looked at the time stamps on my digital pics and it’s taken me from quarter to ten until half one!

When I started I was thinking that I would just stick on the flipper rubbers to see what difference they made, but WOW those things are insanly strong!! I couldn’t get them on! So I decided to do a few posts.. then some of the posts were under stuff so I started unscrewing bits… and they were really dirty.. so I started to clean stuff.. and it all got a bit out of hand!

Off came the main shooter rail and it was really grimy, so I got a washing up pad and put some Autosol on it and polished the rail. It came out amazingly! Check it out:

I’m really glad I took this rail off, because when I re-fitted it, I was able to re-align it much better than before. I think the ball was catching on something as it shot up because now when the ball is launched, it’s super quite. You only hear the swish as it wraps round the loop and shoots out 🙂

Then I just started cleaning everything that I pulled off. Not a proper clean, just polishing the rails with autosol and wiping everything down with some water with a tiny drop of washing up liquid, then polishing the water/autosol off with a cloth. Did I mention yet that Autosol is amazing?! It’s like magic rush vanishing powder. I think I recall Nick telling me that it’s what they use in tumblers to clean metal pinbal parts and now I know why! (Tumblers just vibrate parts in a tub for a few days in some gunk, then when you take them out, they’re super clean and shiny)

So, without further ado (because it’s half one and I’m knackered and can’t think of anything amusing to say), more piccys! 🙂

Heres the filthy crap rubbers that came off the table:

Look at how worn some of them are! Loads of them were so stuck on that I had to pull them off with pliers and they left little crumbs of rubber after them. Not good for table wear!

Here is the top of the table, showing the Beta ramp up on it’s side so I can change the rubbers by the jet bumpers. I tried to change them without taking it off, but you need to get your screwdriver right under the shuttle to take everything off.

Before ………… and after!

Note how much cleaner the ramps look after I cleaned and fitted the new black rubbers.

and finally… My new shiny table 🙂

After I’d fitted everying I played a few games and I can’t believe what a difference the new rubbers make! Before the ball was very rarely rolling all the way up and round the top Alpha ramp, but now it’s zooming up there and break-neck speed and I’m worried it’s going to smash through the plastic!

Ok so I mis-counted while they were still in the bag..
